Had a party last weekend and just had to show her off to everyone. Though Jen didn't exactly like it, I just had to. Was kinda fun turfing my own lawn too. (grin)
Next up, new tires!

Got one of the Jeep logos from the donor jeep at the junk yard... excuse me... salvage yard. Stuck it down with some double sided automotive molding tape. Will have to buy one from 4WD Hardware. I think it 's $12 or so. Also will be getting the "Jeep" letters for the side logos stamped in the sheet metal. Need to show them off considering this is a steel body and fiberglass bodies don't have those logos. If you've got it flaunt it!

Next was the soft top. I was afraid that the brown top would look bad against the yellow but it actually looks pretty good. One suggestion. Don't buy your snaps (to hold the canvas top onto the body) from a home supply or craft shop. They will charge you two arms and a nose for them. Nearly $1 per set (the only sell them in sets). I stopped by a marena and bought just the male sides of the snaps for $0.15 each. A *WHOLE* lot cheaper.

Stopped over at the Nissan dealership and said to the guy behind the counter, "I need some touch up paint for an Xtera." The guy said "What year?" and I said "1981." Ok, I didn't really say that but I really wish I had. Did explain to him that it was for a Jeep painted Xtera yellow. He thought it was cool. Anyway, these two spots (rider's side front fender and driver's side door opening bottom. I've touched up a number of chips with it and it looks pretty good. Will fix these two spots soon. Kinda wearing them as badges of experience for a while.

The only things that need done yet are replacing the motor mounts and the emergency break cable. It seems that the cable was pinched during the accident. Trivial but necessary.

Yes, she is finally back from the frame shop! And I've actually been driving it the last week or so. (Sorry this post is so slow in coming.) You'll notice the steel doors are on her in these pictures. I took them to the body shop so they could adjust the body to make sure they would fit. The one door opening was compressed about 1/2". But the did a good job and they both match beautifuly.

Ok, it's Thursday and still no Jeep. I just spoke with the shop and they 'think' it 'may' be done tomorrow. I personally doubt it but I'll keep my fingers crossed. I would love to have her here for the party but I'm not holding my breath. These people are not impressing me at the moment.

She's back at the frame shop. They are going to try to have her done by next Tuesday. (Mumble...) If luck is with me I'll be able to take her to the 4WD club meeting next Wednesday. Keep your fringers crossed for me.
